How to Apply for the Habitat Homeownership Program
If you are interested in applying for the Lafayette Habitat for Humanity Homeownership Program, please follow these steps:
Step 1 – Determine if you’re qualified for the Homeownership Program.
Review the “Are you Ready?” questions on the How to Qualify page. If you are able to answer “yes” to all of the questions, you are ready for Step 2.
Step 2 – Register to attend an Applicant Orientation Meeting.
Applicant Orientation meetings are held one to two times per year. After submitting an Interest Form, you will be added to our mailing list and invited to the next scheduled meeting.
At the meeting, you will learn more about the Habitat Homeownership Program. You will also receive an Application Packet to apply for the program.
If you are unable to attend the next Applicant Orientation Meeting, you may contact the Lafayette Habitat office to get an application packet. Application materials are only available during an open application session, which is held once per year.
Step 3 – Complete the Application Packet and return it to the Habitat office with all necessary documents by the stated deadline.
Your completed Application Packet will be reviewed by:
- the appropriate Habitat staff
- the Family Selection Committee, and/or
- the Lafayette Habitat Board of Directors
You will be formally notified of your acceptance or denial into the Habitat Homeownership Program within 30-60 days.
