Through the avenue of planned giving, you can have a direct impact on the future of our community that will resound far beyond your lifetime. We recently received a bequest from a Lafayette woman who, during her lifetime, often reached out to help people in need. The generous gift she left us helped fund three homes for families she never met, but whose lives will never be the same because of her. Her gift inspired us to offer others an opportunity to follow her example through the Lafayette Habitat for Humanity Legacy Society.
Lafayette Habitat Legacy Society
The Legacy Society was founded to recognize individuals who make gift plans to benefit Habitat’s housing ministry beyond their lifetime. Individuals who notify us of their plans in 2013 will be considered charter members of the Legacy Society.
There are many types of planned gifts that qualify for Legacy Society membership including:
Gifts you can make today
Gifts that benefit Habitat after your lifetime
Bequest in a will or living trust designating “Lafayette Habitat for Humanity” for:
a specified amount
a percentage of your estate
a residual bequest or “what’s left” after providing for loved ones
Beneficiary designations (i.e. life insurance, retirement plans)
Charitable trust income beneficiary or remainder beneficiary
The most common legacy gifts are given through wills. Please talk with your financial adviser, attorney or accountant to consider the best option for you.
If you have questions about the Lafayette Habitat for Humanity Legacy Society or want to notify us of your plans, please contact our Executive Director, Melinda Taylor at 337.261.5041.
