Lafayette Habitat for Humanity builds affordable homes and offers affordable financing to low-to-moderate income home buyers in Acadiana who meet the required qualifications.
How to Apply for the Habitat Homeownership Program
If you are interested in applying for the Lafayette Habitat for Humanity Homeownership Program, please follow these steps:
Step 1 – Determine if you may be qualified for the Homeownership Program.
Review the “Are you Ready?” criteria on the How to Qualify page. If you think you might meet all the qualifications, you are ready for Step 2. Even if you are not sure you will qualify for the program, we encourage you to apply anyway.
Step 2 – Attend an applicant orientation meeting.
You do not have to attend one of these meetings to receive an application.
At the meeting, you will learn more about the Habitat Homeownership Program and have an opportunity to ask questions. You can also pick up an application packet at the meeting.
If you are unable to attend the next applicant orientation meeting, you may contact the Lafayette Habitat office to get an application packet, or download one from our website.
Step 3 – Complete the Application Packet and return it to the Habitat office with all necessary documents by the application deadline.
Your completed Application Packet will be reviewed by:
- the appropriate Habitat staff
- the Homeowner Selection Committee, and/or
- the Lafayette Habitat Board of Directors
You will be formally notified of your acceptance or denial into the Habitat Homeownership Program within 30-60 days.
Thank you for your interest in Lafayette Habitat for Humanity. We hope to see you soon! If you have read over the information on this website and still have questions, please feel free to contact the Homeowner Services staff at 337.261.5041 or email us.
