Taking care of a large family is a challenge on its own. However, Habitat homeowner Yoshonna was able to maintain her household, complete her sweat equity and facilitate a housing move for her family, all at the same time. Yoshanna has worked with the Lafayette Habitat since 2009, and finally saw her efforts begin to pay off this summer, when Habitat broke ground on her future home.
Although Habitat typically builds three-bedroom homes, we have partnered with UL Lafayette’s School of Architecture and Design to design a four-bedroom house plan that both fits Habitat’s construction budget and will comfortably house a family of seven. Yoshonna has been an active participant in the design process, and her home will be the second Habitat house designed by students in UL Lafayette’s graduate architecture program.
Yoshonna and her family received the keys to their new home in February 2014.
