Court-Ordered
Volunteers
Welcome
Do you have community service hours to do for a court-order? If so, we’d love for you to volunteer with us to fulfill those hours. We do have some limitations and expectations for our court-ordered volunteers, so please carefully review the information on this page before completing the Court Ordered Community Service Application below..
Court-ordered volunteers must be at least 16 years old and must complete the application in order to get approval prior to signing up for any volunteer shirts. If you do not follow this process, we will not be able to provide you with documentation of hours completed and we will not provide documentation of any hours you may have served before being approved to volunteer with us.
Criteria
We do NOT accept volunteers who have been charged with violent crimes, crimes against minors, sexual offenses, animal cruelty, or robbery, unless approved by the leadership of Lafayette Habitat. We reserve the right to decline court-ordered community service volunteers for any reason.
Volunteers who are 16 or 17 must have a parent or guardian sign a hard copy waiver for minors which is located on our main volunteer page.
Please see our full policy and guidelines for community service volunteers.

Process:
- Fill out our online application below and upload court documentation.
- Receive approval from volunteer department. (Please allow 2 business days to receive approval.)
- Once approved, visit our website (www.habitatlafayette.org/volunteer) to sign up as a volunteer. You will be asked to create a profile in our database and sign our liability waiver online.
- Sign up for the location and specific days you would like to volunteer.
Verification Letters:
Court-ordered hours are tracked electronically. It’s up to each volunteer to sign in AND sign out of our electronic system. If you do not sign out at the end of your shift, the system will record zero (0) hours.
Lafayette Habitat will write a letter for the courts documenting proof of hours AFTER all hours are completed. We do not provide progress report letters. Volunteers must fill out the online form at the link below requesting a letter and designating who needs to receive the letter.
Please plan accordingly as letters will be ready one (1) business day after completing the form. Please note that if you complete your hours on a Friday afternoon or Saturday, your letter will not be available until Tuesday. Volunteers will also be emailed a PDF copy of the letter.
