The Acadiana Long Term Recover Committee (ALTRC) is actively seeking information from individuals whose homes were damaged and are still in need of recovery assistance. The ALTRC is a coalition of local organizations including (but not limited to) the Acadiana Red Cross, ASSIST Agency, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Lafayette, Catholic Services of Acadiana, Lafayette Habitat for Humanity, Louisiana Spirit, Louisiana United Methodist Conference, Love Acadiana, Presbyterian Disaster Response, Rebuilding Together Acadiana, 232-HELP, United Way of Acadiana, United Way of Iberia, United Way of St. Landry, and Upbring Disaster Response.
The ALTRC recognizes that there are still many unmet needs in Acadiana, and that flood recovery will be a long-term process. The organization is committed to the completion of this work, no matter how long it takes.
Services from the ALTRC will be offered to flood-impacted households at any stage of recovery and can be combined with assistance from other sources, such as FEMA. In addition, some ALTRC organizations are offering assistance that is not income-based. Those affected by the flood are encouraged to call in and report the status of their recovery ASAP so that any unmet needs may be addressed
WHO: Individuals who were affected by the August 2016 flood and are still in need of recovery assistance – regardless of where they are in the process – should contact ALTRC to supply information about their situation.
WHEN: Individuals should call as soon as possible to report the damage and status of their recovery.
HOW: Individuals should call 232-HELP (337-232-4357) or 2-1-1 if they are in need of assistance.
All information reported will be kept confidential and will only be shared within the ALTRC group. The team meets weekly to keep recovery initiatives moving forward and to identify unmet needs in the community.
