More than 10,000 women are expected to volunteer at Habitat for Humanity construction sites across the country in recognition of National Women Build Week, May 5-11. Now in its seventh year, National Women Build Week challenges women to devote at least one day to help build affordable housing in their local communities.

This Mother’s Day Weekend, May 9-10, over 50 Women Build participants in Lafayette will be working on two homes for deserving families. BBR Creative, a woman-owned, full-service ad agency responsible for designing Habitat Lafayette’s new website (and home) on the internet, will be out in force on Friday in support of Women Build. Other businesses, especially women-owned companies, are encouraged to sign up for this special weekend event. Joining BBR on the Habitat construction sites this weekend will be women from Magnificat Travel, Sherwin Williams, and other local businesses and organizations.

Experienced site supervisors will provide on-site instruction, and Lowe’s will be hosting a pre-construction tool safety class the week before the event. Contact Katie Tregre (katie@habitatlafayette.org) to reserve a shift.
